Sometimes, What happens is ...what's supposed to happen. What I mean is ...Had I not had to "break-down" my home system for a downward move, I would have never had to thin-out my accumulation. I've played around with my altec stash for the past few weeks. Much went quickly on ebay. I used to ask others on the MB, "What's the best system?" Well...Darn it, ...just get busy and try the different stuff out!!!
Everybody has their own set of ears. Even cobbled together, mine really, really like two 411-8A's, one 290-16K, and a 802 with funky little horns (that look like hollow pencils with a slit down one side...who knows where THEY came from!!) on left and right. NO center channel and crossovers at @300 and 6000.
When I get the new place, I'd still like some design help. Thanks!

Thanks for that info!
I got 4 with the 802's for my first system. They were painted gold and been used in a DISCO, so I took them off immediately and replaced with 511's.
Just had to try them! Eventually ...Neet!
How low can they be crossed...I mean reasonabily crossed for HiFi?
Thanks!

Without all the pipe's dims to reverse engineer it, I don't have a clue.

Talk to Freddy Ireson (freddyi) at the Audio Asylum high efficiency forum. He knows all about those Karlson tubes, has plots of them with various drivers.
Freddy's big into Karlson woofer boxes too.

You're welcome! It's a Karlson Coupler tube.
